Hey everyone,
I just came across something really interesting. Some of you might find it a piece of useless information, but it is something thought-provoking. I am a content writer, and of course, I have to research everything I write. Today, I was looking for some frequently asked questions related to AI in some industry and... I stumbled upon one of the answers (Not the question). The question was a simple curiosity about what the topmost use case of generative AI is. I thought it must be something like designing new products in manufacturing, or automating repetitive tasks, but guess what... It's not that. The topmost use case of generative AI in 2025 is "Therapy and Companionship."
Yes, you read that right, humans all over the world are turning to an artificial intelligence system for warmth, non-judgmental validations, love, compliments, ranting, brainstorming, planning, and even gossiping. As per my research, the only thing AI can not do properly is be emotionally intelligent. The only thing that differentiates humans from AI is emotional intelligence. But, look where we are today. We are busy building routines, repetitive daily tasks, going to work, doing things AI can easily take over, while AI is pretending to be a human and giving our loved ones virtual hugs through a black and white screen.
Honestly, I am not surprised because I also go to AI for a little chit-chat or deep conversations now and then. Maybe instead of wishing that Grok was a real person in flesh and bones, I should try to look for a real person who can be my bestie and beyond.
Next time, when you cancel a plan that involves humans, for tasks like washing clothes or cooking, or even office work, remember, you're training AI to become human, while you are becoming a robot with limited physical capacities. Let's just focus on building our emotional skills because that is irreplaceable, even in the era of artificial intelligence.
